Brainstorm 3 ideas
Driftwood with nails and yarn, string, moss, various materials to convey the inter-connectedness within eco-systems. I love to work with tools (hammer and nails) and threads (knitting and crochet) so this will be an interesting combination. It also relates somewhat to my love of geometry as there will be a series of triangles and other shapes in the web. A larger description is found in my proposal on page 1.
Last summer I met a Creek Defender who was relocating a single 1 tear old rainbow trout from Perseverance Creek to Comox Lake due to lack of stream flow. I was impressed by the resilience of the fish- who had already survived one winter- and the dedication of the volunteer who saw the value and importance of saving this precious fish.
Fast Fashion consumes so many resources, including water, and is rarely recycled. My idea is to take an old t-shirt and embroider symbols connected with the community where I live- Cumberland. I haven’t embroidered for a long time but I feel excited about the freedom this technique can allow. It relates somewhat to my love of continuous line drawing..
