Cardboard Sculpture
To create my cardboard sculpture, I started with the scan again and worked on it in ‘meshmixer’ to have a more pleasing result to export to slicer. Once in slicer, I set the measurements and started to rotate the design on the axis to see what would be a feasible orientation. I came across this diagonal lattice design and decided to keep it. I was fortunate to see the sections being created by the laser cutter.
I made a Quicktime video of the assembly process as a back up. This became very useful. I also numbered each piece according to it’s order in the construction process- as you can see on the painter’s tape. Note this version has one piece misplaced- the hands being way off centre. Of course it was easy to fix.
This is my assembled sculpture. I especially lie the view directly from the back and also directly from the front where you get the full diagonal lattice affect. I am also pleased with the way the head ‘floats’ and the suggestive lines created alongside negative space. The shape and structure of the legs offer stability and anchor the figure with some elegant curves.
