Companion Poem
This poem was written just before starting FIN 120. When I created my collage, it reminded me of the trees in the forest where I walk every day. I also used the variation of light in the forest to create an interesting image for my portrait,
Big Log (Cathedral)
.
I enter the cathedral
of quiet things
trees reaching high
moss hanging down
shafts of sunlight
fall to the floor
causing me to gasp
in wonder and awe
.
My heart opens wide
to the splendour
and worship flows
in a silent hymn
of browns and greens
it stills my mind
allows for seeds
of peace to begin
here with the birds
the breeze, the morning sun
.
Beyond all words
in a delicate magnificence
this forest speaks to my soul
and offers up a place
of sanctuary
from a fractured world
